Somewhere in this world, there must be a place for me

September 17th, 2009

The Japanese are the people of Wa, of harmony.

Do not disrupt harmony. Ever.

Do not stand out of the crowd. Try to blend in as much as possible.

Respect the rules, respect the roles. The Japanese hate it when you try to ignore the rules.

Do things the way they should be done: take off your shoes inside the house, put on the slippers in the bathroom, and always, always follow the agenda.

Respect the way of things, the order of the world.

Everything should be made according to the rules, be it tea preparation, flower arranging, fighting, or manufacturing.

Now, where do I fit in ?

I don’t know yet, but there must be a place somewhere here for me.

Web in Japan

So while I’m here and supposed to work hard, I realized today that I brought my own little internet with me and that I was not browsing Japan. I could actually be at home…

So I decided to find stuff. The method is simple : click through links until I find a site I like, in Japanese. Well it takes some time.

But here is one : it’s Joshibi University of Art and Design, located in Tokyo, and the website showcases what can be done here. If you like clever webdesign with cute japanese electro in the background you’ll love it. No need to read japanese, just click randomly.

More to come I hope, if my studies allow it. And it’s really hot in Tokyo at this time of year.
