How to stop Splogs ?
One thing I find annoying is when someone constantly rips off your site from each and every post to publish it entirely on a fake blog, usually on Blogger/Blogspot.
I had the problem with “Geeks Feeds” (no link) until today, when I realized that all the posts he had on his Splog where the carbon copy of my Feedburner email feed…
So I just went to my subscribers list and found his email. I unsubscribed him immediately.
But I did a little more : I posted directly on his blog… using a fake email :
How to stop spam
Geeks Feeds is a splog that steals content from real Blogs and publishes it under its own name on Blogspot.
Geeks Feeds uses your email feed to automatically get notified of your new posts and have them posted on the Splog.
If you’re tired of it, Just find : mailasblog.gf@gmail.com in your subscriber list (in feedburner, you go to Subscription management / email suscriptions.
I am almost sure Geeks Feeds will be stupid enough to let this email go through.
Cheers.
And here is the result :

Ha! That’s funny. How did you find the splog? I’ve had splogs steal content from me based on tags, I believe. One splog stole posts from me if they were about the “Zune” media player.

Hi Justin,
Well I was having an incoming link from him on every post of mine… That’s usually how you find out (some don’t even link to you I agree)..
But yes, most splogs use only popular tags to create Made For Ads pages.

That’s what I thought. That’s how I found out about the Zune site. Between exposing the splog by posting about the splog so it appears on the splog and changing the hot linking image, you could have a lot of fun with this guy.
