Sleevefacing : a new life for your vinyls ?
“You take a sleeve, you take a face (doesn’t have to be a good face), you make sleeveface, now you take a picture.. ”
Who is the brilliant mind behind it ? The legend says Carl Morris, a DJ from Cardiff, Wales, started it with an old Mc Cartney record held in front of his face:
“It was a moment so hilarious to those that witnessed it that soon other DJs across the United Kingdom started repeating the trick at their own parties, finding record sleeves of just the right dimension and comedic proportion to give their sets an ironic visual kick: Ted Nugent’s “Cat Scratch Fever,” Iggy Pop’s “Lust for Life,” Joni Mitchell’s “Clouds”. Then a couple photos hit the Web, and things went seriously insane” as related by the SFgate.
What’s sure is that sleevefacing is not an isolated fad.
It’s taking over the internet… More than a thousand of pictures already uploaded to Flickr..
Somewhere between concept art, music sharing and handicraft. I need to go home to check out my old Lou Reed records and produce mine…
Here are some amazing ones from The Flickr Sleeveface pool :

HAHAHA….the Bobby Brown cover takes the cake. Elton John, not too bad, but at least we’ve found ONE use for that Bobby Brown sleeve.
