I think it will never make it to the streets, too expensive and complicated. This requires retooling existing facilities. Which the MDI air car does not..(check it out) cheap and non polluting plus it has huge range over 900 miles. It is also being produced right now in france, india and coming to the states this year.

Paradigm shifts in the "American Dream" forced on the American people by the (GRD) great republican depression will be soul wrenching and mind-bending. In a few short years, life in America will be transformed more effectively and completely than a direct nuclear hit can do! We will eat food grown in humanure to avoid starvation, ride public transportation to part-time and casual menial jobs, live in Shanty towns around the foreclosed McMansions, scratch in the dirt to grow GMO'ed veggies in garden plots, live 3 to 4 people per small room, use single LED lights sparingly, bicycle and walk, and generally accept third world conditions as our dollar collapses. Under these circumstances, an electric car like this one will dominate, as gasoline will no longer be available to us at any price! We face a psychotic change in our society in a very short time and will gladly run electric cars for survival. Most of them will have multi-purpose batteries, able to charge when sun and wind conditions allow, and furnish power to homes for water pumping and essential services when shortages occur! In the post GRD world, great respect will be given to the life-preserving capabilities of electric cars, and they will not be built filled with planned obsolescence and model changes for quick profits in mind! They will be built for easy maintenance, reliability and part interchangeability, much like military machinery of today, and we will be thankful for them.

"It’s so ugly it’ll never be mass produced."

Ugliness never stopped the Hummer making it into production.

What will stop the Eclectic is the inability of drivers to get over regarding 'cars' as anything other than some form of nebulous 'statement', usually about their wealth, status, self-image or, let's face it, penis size.
