All in one SEO ?
I hate the word SEO. It bores me to death.
But sometimes you have to take care of your business, and Search Engine Optimization is one element of a successful blog.
So earlier this evening I was testing Website Grader (I found it through Blog Op - a gold mine of blogging tips, hi there…) and I found out that I had no meta tag on 365 questions ! I did my first website in 1998 (should I link to it ? here you go. I realise it was already asking key questions..) and at that time I knew about meta tags…
I know Google doesn’t care that much about meta tags, but Yahoo and other search engines seem to.
So I had no description and no keyword in my header. And indeed, Wordpress doesn’t provide it, on purpose :
A default installation of WordPress does not contain the description and keywords meta tag data. But, don’t worry. You can still “Climb To the Top of the Search Engine Charts with WordPress!” You just have to manually add the more important meta tags to your site.
Manually is fine, but I prefer some plug-in.
So I tried All in One SEO

It gives you the possibility to write your title, description and keywords.
it also rewrites your post titles that appear in Google : for example, mine were typically like this:
365questions.org » Blog Archive » Computers in the 80’s
Now it will be like this :
Computers in the 80’s : The best of worlds? | 365questions.org
You can also choose to use categories as tags, and auto generate post descriptions.
To add to this, I would recommend to install Google Sitemap generator for Wordpress. It creates an XML site map for search engines to better index all you site (I have 562 pages indexed at the moment).
Welcome to the wonderful world of SEO…

Meta description is still in google’s consideration, I just read it in google webmaster tools description, but meta keyword isn’t. however, put meta tags for other SEs, it will not harm your site anyway. I used all in one seo pack and sitemap generator in my new blog. hope this will work.
