This is also before Microsoft dominated OSes (MS-DOS and Windows). Back when there was an different OS for almost every hardware platform like CPM, TRDOS, GEM, AmigaOS, GeOS, and many others. Sigh.
4th picture down….
“It’s important when playing Missile Command to not actually watch the screen. Instead, make googily eyes at your 8th grade sweetheart and hope for the best”
I used to like that game in the 4th picture, i cant remember what it was called, but those streaks were bombs coming down to blow up the cities that are on the bottom of the screen. It was a sort of WW3 type game. You had to basically shoot those streaks before they came and destroyed your cities.
OMG, I remember using the one the boy is using near the top. I was in Grade school and we were learing how to write simple programs. LOL!!! Thats too funny!
LOL!!! im doing a report on computers from the 80’s and they look so funny and BIG! im only 15 so this is so odd compaird to my computer (MacBook Pro) sooooo it think that ill buy one of thoughs computers on ebay.com
My new watch has more ram than all of these badboys combined!
And why are the two kids starring at each other while playing missile command! The state of the free world is at stake and they are moon eyed at each other. It is not like they are playing that lame apple game where you are the bunny running through the maze to get a carrot.
The bunny game by the way was my entire grammar school education for three years in a row. How did they think that that was how you teach children about computers. Oh wow after my school spent 8,000 on 2 computers and after 100 hours of computer education over 3 years the children are now fully trained in the use of ALL the directional buttons!
Now my 6 year old niece uses the internet better and more efficiently that I do

Wow, those pictures do bring back memories! (All of them under 64K, lol!)
I wouldn’t call this “before the internet”, but “before the IBM PC”. That’s when computers turned to homogeneous toasters.
