Who has the best sorry page ?
Even the best have some down time. But not every web company keeps a sense of humor about it… here are a few examples.
____________________________________________________
Google : if we’re not back, you’re in trouble, so cross your fingers.

____________________________________________________
Flickr : You have a massage.

____________________________________________________
More Flickr : This time, it’s hiccups.

____________________________________________________
Myspace: while we’re down, you can still waste your time..

____________________________________________________
Reddit : really looking sorry.

____________________________________________________
Digg : While not digging, digg this…

____________________________________________________
Technorati : where has the monster gone? he probably got sick of blogs.

__________________________________________________________
Windows live : even they recognize they suck !

____________________________________________________
Twitter : So sorry….

____________________________________________________
Youtube : we are actively fixing it.

____________________________________________________

_____________________________________________________
Zapping a few gremlins…

and a last one from Youtube, a nice error 500 :

CodeProject.com has a great one:
“Hear that crunching sound? Something just broke.”
April 25th, 2007 at 2:31 am
Sorry, here’s the full page text:
Oops!
Hear that crunching sound? Something just broke.
Why did this happen?
Because either we screwed up in a way that wasn’t immediately obvious until now, or because the ASP engine running this site has just rolled over and died, or because the site is simply having a bad hair day.
Options
1. Try and do whatever you did again.
2. Open the CodeProject home page, and then look for links to the information you want. Sure, the information you need is probably on this page, but you never know your luck in a big city.
3. Pray, curse, or sacrifice burnt offerings, then see 1.

I agree with the comment that a good 404 should not redirect on its own, I would much rather have choice or be told I missed a target.
I’m not sure if this one qualifies as good but maybe a bit funny.
