Google Maps for the masses?

if you ever wanted to have your own Google map application on your site but never knew how to do it, this site is for you : Click2Map.

The pitch : “Click2Map helps anyone create Google Maps with customized points of interest without writing a single line of code!”

I tried it and it is indeed very easy. I created a map with my home on it. I entered my address and it immediately retrieved the geodata. There are tons of applications i could think of.

Unfortunately, I didn’t find how to export my map to my website…

The site is in early beta so let’s watch out.

    If you want to publish your map, you can click the Publish button in the toolbar (need to be register before). Then you can preview your map by clicking the Preview button in the Pusblish Dialog.

    If you want to “share” your map you can copy and paste the URL address of the Preview Page. The URL address of your map is something like http://generator.click2map.com/maps/your_user_name/your_map_name

    In the future you will able to embedded the map in a iframe for instance.
