Here is a little guide to download videos from popular video sharing sites and put them on your iPod.

Comments, tips and enhancements are welcome.

Step 1 : Get the URL of the video you want to download.

Just locate the URL of the video in your favorite video sharing site’s page. usually it looks like this :

Step 2 : Find a video downloader

I recommend Japan’s Qooqle downloader. It’s simple and it works.

You can also use one of the followings :

KissYouTube

For a greater variety of supported sites, you can use keepvid.

(Beware, the convert button links to a commercial software).

You can also try this Firefox extension or this fantastic video bookmarklet : simply drag and drop the bookmarklet into your favorites. When watching a video, click the bookmark and you will get a link to download it, like this:

Step 3 : convert it.

Now here comes the tricky part : you have just downloaded a video in FLV format. To watch it on your iPod, you need to convert it.

So here comes Zamzar, the online video converter.

Upload your video, and Zamzar will send you an email with a link to the file for download. Many formats are supported (Progress bar for uploads, 100 megas maximum). It works well.

Even better, just use Google Video.

You can directly select a format to download for your iPod!
