Spam : Scum of the Internet?

Today Akismet caught my 3 000th spam.

After about 6 months of blogging, I can currently proudly claim 192 posts, 219 comments, and 3000 Spams. This must be my lucky day.

When I installed Akismet, I thought of writing a post called : “will Akismet save my life?” Well it does, since I would have given up Blogging if I had to sort out some true and valuable comments from the daily dose of trash I get. Fortunately, Akismet is there, and I can delete it all in a click.

What is spam ? What is it good for ? Why do people send it? Does it make them that much money? Why do spammers all hide in Boca Raton ? Is it necessary to the internet as evil is necessary to bad ? Useless questions.

If you want to know, go to wikipedia. There is a very comprehensive article there.

Now here comes the real EVIL, for a vegetarian like me : the original SPAM.

…with the Spam contest :the Great American SPAMâ„¢ Championshipâ„¢. The annual, national, superfantastical SPAMâ„¢ recipe contest is waiting for your entry. Bajillions will enter, but only one will wear the SPAMâ„¢ crown.
…with the SPAM museum :

And the Spam Bible : the “Book of Spam”.

But they never tell you what SPAM really is. And you don’t want to know.
