Is 365questions faster ?

Today I moved my blog to a new host.

I was previously hosted by 1and1. They had offered a free 2 Giga hosting for 3 years, and I used it to install some scripts and start this blog.

When I happened to be Dugg in October, the site was immediately down and 1and1 moved me to a slow performance environment. Loading one single page became incredibly painful.

So I moved to Site5, a service recommended by my friend Fred. He uses it to host all his sites. I would have been very embarrassed to choose a host company, so it’s important to have someone you trust being satisfied by their service.

They offer 55 Gigas of disk space, 5 Terabytes of Bandwith for 5 dollars a month. They call it the totally ridiculous five dollar webhosting deal. I thought it was funny. They also offer a back up solution called flashback : Flashback is a revolutionary new way to manage your website files. It keeps track of all changes you make to your website and gives you the ability to see your website as it existed at any point in time.

So far I am quite happy. I had to use their support because I couldnt log in to the admin and they were quite responsive, even on Halloween day.

No I managed to move my blog and that, I am really proud of.

I found some great help here and especially here.

Not everything went smoothly at all, and even this morning after I changed my DNS to point my domain name to here, all links where broken. And believe it or not, I just republished the About page with a small change and.. everything works !

And this time it’s fast I hope.
